The NHW Personal Care Program has been developed to meet the specific needs of clients at home.
The Personal Care Program provides both long and short term care for a wide variety of clients within the community to allow them to remain within their own homes with maximum independence.
It provides assistance for clients who have been to hospital and require increased support for a short term period. We also provide longer term support to clients that choose to remain at home.
Being a part of the larger Health Independence Program (HIP) division of NHW gives our carers the advantage of access to support from the District Nurses and other home nursing support services, providing the client with the best care available.
Our Carers
All the carers supplied by our program have completed the minimum requirement of their Certificate III in Community and Aged Care (or equivalent). Our qualified carers are also required to maintain current first aid certificates and a number of other skills competencies such as "No Lift", and CPR through NHW.
This ensures that the care provided by our workers is of the highest quality.
Our Services
Personal Care- Assistance with basic tasks necessary for you to manage at home, such as; showering, dressing, toileting, getting in and out of bed, shaving etc. Carers assist with activities, the emphasis being on developing and maintaining your independence, with carers providing support and assisting where necessary.
Respite Care- Providing in home support to the family when the client is unable to be by themselves. Our workers stay with the client so family can leave to run some errands, take some time out, or get some much needed rest safe in the knowledge that their loved one is not home alone. Respite is usually provided for a number of hours at a time, or can be used for overnight support.
Home Care- Household tasks undertaken to assist clients around the house include vacuuming, sweeping and washing floors, cleaning bathrooms, laundry, ironing etc. The service is usually allocated to you for a set time period, so prioritising tasks is important to you to ensure you get the most from our program.
Domestic Assistance- Other tasks requiring assistance may be grocery shopping, or preparing meals at home. The Personal Care program can provide assistance with regaining independence in these skills as required.
