Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapists work with people whose ability to perform their essential daily living tasks have been affected by injury or illness. Essential daily living tasks are determined by each individual's life role and can range from dressing and showering to attending school or driving a car. Occupational Therapists aim to maximise a person's function by providing adaptive aids and equipment and teaching the person new ways of performing their daily living tasks.
Inpatient Services
Inpatient services include:
- Showering/dressing assessment
- Cognitive assessment
- Upper limb assessment
- Domestic skills assessment
- Home assessment
- Prescription of equipment/aids
- Instruction in performing tasks given limitations
- Recommendation of modification to home environment
Outpatient Services
Outpatient services include:
- Home assessments
- Personal alarm assessments
- Wheelchair and seating assessments
- Hand therapy
