Lactation Clinic

The Lactation Clinic was established to support an identified need in the maintenance of breastfeeding. The clinic promotes the continuity of breast feeding within the community, which is widely recognised as enhancing the well being of both mothers and babies. Supported by an accredited Lactation Consultant, the clinic provides a relaxed personalised service. The success of this service is noted through its patronage and maintenance of high breast feeding rates from birth to six months.

NHW provides a free lactation clinic for mothers and babies from birth to six months who are experiencing breastfeeding problems and would benefit from extra help and support. The service operates from NHW's Cusack House (34 Cusack Street) five days a week. Referrals can be made by self referral, midwife, GP, maternal and child health nurse, paediatrician or obstetrician.
