Continence Clinic
Staffed by a Continence Nurse Adviser and a Continence Physiotherapist, this clinic offers continence assessments, diagnosis and treatment plans for clients with continence issues and other forms of bladder and bowel dysfunction.
This service is available to clients of all ages that live in the community within the local government areas of Rural City of Wangaratta, Shire of Alpine and Shire of Delatite. Home visits are available for the elderly and disabled, provided they live within the boundaries of the city of Wangaratta.
The Continence Clinic also offers a specialised service for children (aged 5 to 16 years) with disabilities who have toileting or continence issues related to their disability. This service has a limited number of funding packages available to help cover the cost of continence supplies.
Inpatient Services
A support service for medical and nursing staff offering consultation of, and advice regarding inpatients with complex continence needs, bowel and bladder dysfunction and catheter related problems.
Outpatient Services
- Continence assessments, diagnosis and individualised treatment plans
- Pelvic floor exercise programs, bladder retraining and bowel programs
- Catheter management including intermittent self catheterisation
- Education and counselling for clients and carers
- Advice regarding appropriate continence aids and appliances
- Applications for subsidies to help cover the cost of continence supplies
- Referral where necessary to other members of the multidisciplinary health team
- Provision of education sessions to interested community groups

- Out waiting list is generally 1-2 months, but this can vary
- Initial consultation takes approximately 1 to 1.5 hours and is free of charge
- Further consultations are $5.00 per visit
