Antenatal Clinic

Antenatal care is provided both on-site and in local areas and can be provided by the various midwifery care models at NHW. The hospital's antenatal clinic operates every Tuesday and can be contacted on (03) 5722 0136 (Tuesday only) or (03) 5722 0301.

Generally, a GP and a hospital midwife will provide a woman's antenatal care. The woman will visit the antenatal clinic three times for a normal pregnancy. These visits will be scheduled at around 18, 28 and 36 weeks.

Antenatal classes and tours are run regularly throughout the year and can be tailored to individual needs if required. NHW offers a series of comprehensive antenatal classes over a 5 week period and weekend classes at Cusack House, 34 Cusack Street, Wangaratta. These classes are held between 7pm - 9pm for the 5 week evening classes and between 1pm - 5pm for the weekend classes. These classes cover labour, delivery, pain management, caesarean sections, forceps, mothercraft and parenting skills. Classes also provide the opportunity to familiarise with NHW facilities and meet other expectant parents.

Early Pregnancy Clinic

NHW has commenced an Early Pregnancy Clinic providing genetic counselling. Early booking into the antenatal clinic is for women less than 10 weeks and booked with shared care with a Wangaratta GP.

The antenatal clinic operates every Tuesday from 9am - 4pm with appointments running for 1 hour.
