Visiting Hours
Visitors are encouraged to stay for short periods within visiting hours. It is requested that designated patient rest periods are adhered to. If possible, visitors should check with staff before seeing patients.
Ground Floor Visiting Hours - Ground West, Paediatrics & Thomas Hogan Centre
11am - 1pm
3pm - 8pm
Patient rest period is from 1pm - 3pm. Visitors are not encouraged during this time, except under special circumstances.
First Floor Visiting Hours - One East Surgical & Midwifery
3pm - 8pm
Patient rest period is from 1pm - 3pm and is strictly adhered to.
Critical Care Visiting Hours
There are no specific visiting hours for critical care, however numbers of visitors are limited. Visitors are asked to ring the bell at the entrance doors and staff will provide assistance.
Code of Conduct for Visitors
In an effort to provide a safe and healthy environment for patients - clients and their families, NHW requires visitors to comply with the following:
- Observe visiting hours, as well as any restrictions posted on a patients/clients room door.
- Limit the number of visitors to a room at one time and be aware to maintain low noise levels.
- Do not sleep in a patients/clients room or a waiting area unless you have permission.
- Respect a patients/clients right to privacy. State and Commonwealth legislation requires that hospitals comply with strict laws to protect patients/clients privacy. Staff can only provide condition updates to a designated family member.
- Do not visit if you are sick or have an illness that could be transmitted to a patient/client.
- Children should be supervised by an adult at all times.
- Children must be 12 years old to visit patients/clients unsupervised. This rule may vary based on an individual situation.
- Be respectful and courteous of patients, clients, NHW staff and other visitors
- Be respectful of the property of other people and the health service.
The following are prohibited at NHW:
- Taking pictures without the consent of the person you are photographing.
- Drinking alcoholic beverages.
- Using disruptive or violent behaviour.
- Smoking anywhere within the buildings or building entrances. Smoking is only permitted in the outdoor designated smoking areas.
- Possession and use of illicit drugs.
- Possession and/or use of weapons.
Visitors who do not comply with this Code of Conduct will be asked to leave the health service and may be escorted off the grounds by Security.
All Official Visitors conducting business with NHW are required to wear a visitors badge obtained from the reception areas at the main entrances.
