Orientation
Students participate in a multi-disciplinary orientation program, which includes an introduction to the hospital and some of the basic, generic information for all staff and students at NHW. This usually takes place in the staff cafeteria at 0900 hours. The staff cafeteria can be easily located if you enter via the main entrance, walk through the foyer into the main corridor. Turn left and you will find the staff cafeteria on the right hand side immediately after the lifts.
Unless you hear otherwise from your learning organisation, this will be your meeting place on the first day of your placement Any rostering difficulties can be dealt with at this time.
It is essential that you bring your current Victorian or National Police Check with you on this day. Students presenting without a current Victorian or National Police Check are unable to participate in Clinical Placement at NHW and will be sent home.
You may find it helpful to speak with other students from your University who have completed clinical placements at NHW in the past. If so, you can contact your University Clinical Coordinator to organise this.
