Welcome to the Northeast Health Pre-Placement Student Orientation Package. We aim to provide our students with a safe, valuable and enjoyable learning experience.
The purpose of this online orientation package is to provide you with information concerning Northeast Health Wangaratta’s (NHW) policies, procedures and workplace expectations.
All students commencing placement at NHW are required to complete the Student Orientation Checklist and present it on your first day of placement. By completing this document you are stating that you have read and understood the material. All students commencing placement will have been sent a roster indicating where and when orientation will commence and which area you will be working in, Allied Health students will also receive contact details of a clinical facilitator.
All students MUST bring a current Police Check. If the student anticipates being in regular, direct or unsupervised contact with children during their placement a Working with Children Check is also required.
The police and working with children check must be dated within 12 months of estimated completion of clinical placement at NHW.
Failure to present the above documents will result in your placement being suspended until you can produce such documentation.
Under the Allied Health and Nursing links you will find information pertaining to work areas and further information on how to plan for your placement.
Nursing students who are expecting to gain experience with medication administration are required to complete the relevant medication calculation quiz and bring it with you on your first day.
