Volunteering at NHW
Volunteers are an integral part of Northeast Health Wangaratta and its community. Our volunteers give their time to care for patients, residents, clients, their families and staff. Our volunteers help provide the best care and quality of life to those who require our help and support. We welcome people from all walks of life to join our team of volunteers. Our Volunteer Coordinator works with all potential volunteers to ensure their interests and skills are catered for.
Some of the skills and interests our volunteers bring to NHW include gardening, arts, craft, card playing, walking, pets, music, theatre, conversation, listening, reading, a second language.....the list is endless. We are always on the lookout for anything different that people would be interested in incorporating into our program.
The current areas included in our Volunteer Program are:
- Board of Management
- Cognition Program
- Community Advisory Committee
- Emergency Department Liaison
- Friends of the Hospital Auxiliary
- Fundraising
- General Assistance
- Illoura Lifestyle Program
- Library Volunteers
- Mental Health Services
- Palliative Care
- Pastoral Care Visitors
- Pet Therapy
NHW's volunteer programs combined engage more than 140 permanent volunteers as well as a number of service clubs, students, local community groups and individuals who volunteer for fundraisers, special events and projects.
New volunteers are always welcome to ensure the longevity of NHW's volunteer program and activities. A brochure outlining the rewards of volunteering at NHW can be downloaded below.
