Kelly Country Classic Wrap Up 2008
The event saw more than 340 riders participate in the three ride routes (50km. 100km and 150km) throughout the picturesque Kelly Country on Sunday 9th November 2008 raising around $10,000 for much needed medical equipment at our local hospital. Thanks must go to our special guest - Simon Gerrans, event participants, volunteers, sponsors and lucky prize donors, your support is greatly appreciated. Next year the Kelly Country Classic will be held on Sunday 8th November 2009- put it in your diary now!

The Kelly Country Classic Committee are pleased to announce that Professional Australian Road Cyclist Simon Gerrans will be the special guest at the 2008 Kelly Country Classic to be held on Sunday 9th November. Simon this year became the first Australian to win a mountain stage of the Tour de France, a feat he achieved on stage 15, a 183 kilometre alpine stage from Embrun to Prato Nervoso in Italy. 2008 has also seen the Simon take out stage 1 of the Route du Sud and stage 2 of the Criterium International and compete at the Beijing Olympics. On home soil Simon was the general classification winner and stage 1 winner of the Tour Down Under and general classification winner of the Herald Sun Tour in 2006. Originally from Jamieson in Victoria, Simon now resides in Monaco when he is not on the International cycling circuit. Simon will meet with ride participants and help start each of the three Kelly Country Classic rides before jumping on his bike to enjoy some of the picturesque landscapes of the Kelly Country.
