Friends and supporters of the Victoria Blue Ribbon Foundation North East Branch enjoyed a night to remember, as they gathered at the Quality Hotel Wangaratta Gateway on Saturday for the annual fundraising ball.

And this year marked a very special milestone, with the proceeds from the event managing to raise the final $10,000 needed for Northeast Health Wangaratta and its MRI Appeal.

Appeal coordinator, Yvonne Gibson, said the appeal had now officially closed, with $2000 raised from ticket sales to the event and another $8000 from raffles held during the evening.

“It was a really good night and very well attended, with around 180 people coming along,” said Ms Gibson. “People were all really generous in the way they supported the auctions, and we were on target, managing to top up funds and reach the $310,000 needed for the MRI.”

Auction prizes including a week’s holiday in Venus Bay and a range of football memorabilia attracted some competitive bidding from the audience who were keen to support to the appeal, and Ms Gibson said some great entertainment provided by band ‘Slippery When Wet’ got everyone up on the dance floor.

Ms Gibson said the MRI was almost ready to go, and once a few last minute details relating to the installation of the equipment was finalised, it was expected to be operational by July 9.
